Welcome to the Gordonstoun Archives

The Archive is housed in the Wardens' Room in the Round Square of Gordonstoun School.

The contents of the archive cover all aspects of the school since it was formed by Kurt Hahn in 1934 up to the present day. Records in the archive are not only paper files but include modern formats, for example video tape, compact discs and audio tape. There is a large collection of photographs, glass slides and 35mm colour slides. While indexing the collection documents and photographs relating to Gordonstoun Estate prior to 1934 were discovered. The oldest document in the archive is a hand written IOU by Robert Gordon, the 3rd Baronet, and dated 1668.

Work on indexing the collection is now well underway using the Archive Server computer program as the main instrument for all indexing.

Archive material re-produced here can be purchased by contacting the Archivist at Gordonstoun. The Archivist is also willing to carry our general enquiries for researchers, former pupils and staff.

If you have any memorabilia relating to Gordonstoun, Wester Elchies, Altyre or indeed any other house used by the school I would be only to willing to copy the material and return it to you within a few days.
