Travel Directions

By Air

Inverness airport (Dalcross) and  Aberdeen airport (Dyce) have direct flights to and from most major British cities as well as Amsterdam, Ejsberg, Paris and Stavanger.  As air travel becomes increasingly accessible more and more carriers are flying to Scotland making travel to Gordonstoun fast and efficient.  Car hire is available at both Inverness and Aberdeen airports. Further information on flights to Inverness and Aberdeen.

By Helicopter

By Train

There are regular trains to Aberdeen/Elgin and to Inverness/Elgin from all parts of the UK as well as regular direct services from London’s Euston station.  Gordonstoun is a 15 minute taxi ride from Elgin station.

For students, staff supervision is provided on trains to and from London at the beginning and end of term providing numbers are sufficient.

By Car

When driving from the South all but the last few miles are now on motorway or on major roads.

From Edinburgh ( approximate journey time 3-4 hours)
Cross the Forth Road Bridge and take the M90 to Perth.  Exit at Junction 11 signposted A9 Glasgow, Stirling, Inverness and follow motorway to Perth.  At roundabout follow the signs for Inverness.  This road will take you through the Highlands until you pass Aviemore on your right-hand side.  Turn right at the sign for A95 Grantown-on-Spey.  Proceed through the town on the A939 signposted to  Forres.  Take the right hand fork signposted A940 Forres.  At the town of Forres follow the signs for A96 to Elgin and the Eight Acres Hotel.

From Glasgow (approximate journey time 4 hours)
Take the M8 motorway from Glasgow following signs for Stirling, Perth and Inverness.  Follow this via the M9 and then the A9 to Perth and then follow from Perth as above.

From the south of Glasgow travelling up the M6/M74 take the M73 bypassing Glasgow to the east.  This feeds onto the A80 and the A9 to Perth and Inverness.

From Inverness (approximate journey time 1 hour)
Take the B861 from Inverness aiming for the A96 signposted Nairn, Forres and Elgin.  Following the A96 past the airport turn-off, through Nairn and the outskirts of Forres until you reach Elgin and the Eight Acres Hotel.
