The Associations of Gordonstoun
The Associations of Gordonstoun (known as the AoG) was established in 2004 as the organisation which brings together all who care for Gordonstoun. This includes:
HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, whose sons were also at Gordonstoun, is the Patron of the AoG.
Simon Thorp, an Old Gordonstounian from 1973, is Chairman of the AoG and Ben Goss is the AoG Coordinator, assisted at Gordonstoun by Jane Steenson, the AoG Secretary.
Objectives of the AoG
The AoG has a committee that is formed from the Chairmen / Directors of all the external groups. In addition, regional organisations under a Chairman have been established to represent the AoG in different parts of the country and abroad, where there is interest. Five of the Regional Chairmen also represent the AoG on the Gordonstoun Association Committee.
Its objectives are:
- To coordinate the links to the Gordonstoun family through the constituent groups and other groups that may be formed or developed in the future;
- To establish and maintain links with former pupils and their parents, plus former Governors and members of staff;
- To establish Regional Groups to cover the UK and abroad;
- To foster the cause of Gordonstoun, to preserve the ideals of Kurt Hahn and to promote their development;
- To assist with the promotion and recommendation of Gordonstoun to prospective parents and pupils; and
- To support current parents and bring them together to aid and support themselves and the School.
Gatherings
Be they in Scotland, South Africa or South America, Gordonstoun Gatherings are opportunities for all who care about Gordonstoun to meet in convivial surroundings. Always we are looking to the future to enable people who would like to informally gather together.
