Frankfurt Gathering
by Diana Natermann
Since our first German OG Get-together in 2004 we have had four gatherings in total in Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Frankfurt once more.
This year's Gathering was, like the ones before, a success. The beautiful thing about the events is that many OGs from very different age groups and backgrounds attend them. In February we welcomed OGs to the Chalet in Frankfurt who had attended Gordonstoun either for one year - Constantin Küsel and Daniel Bargende, who passed their A-Levels just last summer - Alix Heil, Joao Burger, Niklas Verloh and Jens Weitbrecht - a few years ago - Tilman Zwanzig, Carlo Haselmann and Enno von Marcard, and even one former pupil who was at Gordonstoun when it was not yet a co-educational school - Michael Chegwin. Also the parents and sibling of a current pupil were there - the Bezzenberger family.
Unfortunately, due to the snow related weather chaos in Great Britain at the time, Ben Goss could not attend our fourth German Gathering. He was dearly missed! The evening passed with the various OGs enjoying the chance to meet up again with their old friends but also making new acquaintances with people who have shared similar experiences, emotions and memories during their time at the School. As always it was evident, that no matter which generation you belong to and where you come from, there is always a common thread to be found within the OG Community.

The evening ended with the general acknowledgement that these gatherings are a widely welcomed opportunity to keep in touch with Gordonstoun. So far, it has not been decided as to where and when the next German OG Get-together will take place, however Munich and Cologne were suggested. Until then, I thank everyone who attended this year and the years before and I am hoping to see most of you again in the future!
