GAF Recption
The Board of the Gordonstoun American Foundation are delighted to invite OGs and their families, former GISS students and their families and our many friends in the USA to a reception to be held at The Yale Club, New York on Saturday, 18 October and we hope very much that you will be able to join us. Invitations will be sent out to everyone in the NY vicinity but everyone is welcome so if you would like more information please contact: needhamj@gordonstoun.org.uk
As well as members of the GAF Board, Mark Pyper, Headmaster of Gordonstoun will also be with us for the evening, Jenny Needham, Director of the Gordonstoun International Summer School and Richard Devey - former Bruce House Housemaster and currently the Gordonstoun Campaign Co-ordinator. This is purely a social evening but I am sure that many of you would like to hear how things are developing at Gordonstoun.
GAF Scholar
Harrison Boorda was selected as the Gordonstoun American Scholar for 2008. Harrison is from South Carolina and he joined over 300 students from all over the world on the Gordonstoun International Summer School in July. He took part in a huge range of activities both inside and out of the classroom. A full report on his stay at Gordonstoun will be published in the 2008 GAF newsletter - out later in the Fall.
As you know, the aim of the Gordonstoun American Foundation is to raise funds annually which will be used to further the ideals of international co-operation and education by funding scholarships to the Gordonstoun programmes for American boys and girls, to assist with the provision of facilities at the School for use by American students and for the benefit of all and to foster awareness of Gordonstoun in the US. Your continued support is vitally important to us and we thank you for your contributions large or small to this most worthwhile cause.
