Catherine Jordan (nee Maley) - Windmill 1993: Barclays Wealth Jersey Boat Show 2011
The Barclays Wealth Jersey Boat Show 2011 provided a welcome reunion for some OGs.
Pictured left to right are Tom Scott (Altyre ’93), Catherine Jordan (nee Maley – Windmill ’93) and Jamie Miller CBE (Duffus - ’69).
Jamie Miller is a Commodore in the Royal Navy and the Naval Regional Commander for Wales and Western England, which includes the Channel Islands. Catherine is a Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Navy and the Commanding Officer of HMS SEVERN, an Offshore Patrol Vessel of the Fishery Protection Squadron.
HMS SEVERN was at the Jersey Boat Show to be awarded the Jersey Cup for 2010. The Jersey Cup was instigated in 1998 and is awarded annually to the Royal Navy’s River Class Offshore Patrol Vessel that has made the most significant contribution, and shown the highest standard of efficiency in the course of her duties in that year.
While the forthcoming presence of HMS SEVERN at the 2011 Boat Show was being announced on radio and TV in Jersey, Tom Scott, now a resident businessman in Jersey, realised he had just read an article in the Winter 2010/11 GA Magazine about Catherine being in Command of HMS SEVERN and got in touch in order to meet up while the Ship was visiting.
The Barclays Wealth Jersey Boat Show was a huge success and pictured above left are Jamie and Catherine in more formal attire, on duty, with HMS SEVERN in the background, open to visitors.
