Ben Goss - Keeper of the Gordonstoun Family
As many of you know Ben Goss has just retired from Gordonstoun after many years of service in various roles.
Ben has contributed to The Gordonstoun Association over the years in a significant way and The Gordonstoun Association committee are making arrangements to mark his retirement in the near future.
We have great pleasure in announcing that Ben has accepted the role as the first Keeper of the Gordonstoun Family which is wonderful news. The Gordonstoun Association committee look forward to having Ben's presence on the committee in his new role which he will take up in a few months, after a period of enjoying his retirement from the school.
The role of ‘Keeper’ came into effect following the AGM held on Saturday 7th May 2011 when the following proposal and appropriate amendment to The Gordonstoun Association Constitution was made and passed by those attending:
“Approval to the creation of the role of Keeper of the Gordonstoun Family as a full additional member of the committee whose main role will be pastoral within the Gordonstoun Association (GA) including development of the work of the GA in specific areas and will be responsible to the Chair of the GA, there is a full
job specification (copy will be available at the meeting or can be obtained in advance via the office) and if agreed the following amendment to the constitution is proposed by way of a new clause:
3.10 A former member of staff or pupil will be appointed by the GA Chairman and the Governor responsible for the Gordonstoun Association (this is always a former pupil) as Keeper of the Gordonstoun Family a mainly pastoral role, a specific role description will be in place which can be reviewed periodically, for a maximum period of 5 years with an expectation of serving a minimum of 2 years.”
