Gavin Dobson - Altyre 1968

Gavin Dobson (Altyre 1968) has written his first novel. "The Price of Redemption" is set in the world of American Capital Management. The press release describes a twisting tale from the very height of success to the depths of despair for the players in the financial game.

Gavin was initially in Hopeman Lodge before moving to Altyre House under the management of James Fitzgibbon where he ultimately became House Helper. A keen member of the Mountain Rescue and numerous teams Gavin was also a member of the Literary Society where he presented a paper on Turgenev and was one of the two student librarians! Is this where his passion for writing was realised?

Gavin’s experience in the field in which he has written about is extensive and he has worked for over 30 years in Investment management in London, New York & Chicago.Gavin comments on the fact that although Kurt Hahn was retired by the time he started school he did meet him on a number of occasions as he patrolled the grounds. He had Bobby Chew & then John Kemp as his Headmasters and then had the opportunity to meet Michael Mavor at a later date. This means that in meeting  Mark Pyper and  now Simon Reid as his son Henry’s Headmasters he is possibly one of the very few OG’s to have met all the Gordonstoun Headmasters!

We wish Gavin all the very best in his literary career and I am sure will get positive reviews from the Gordonstoun family.
