Fund-raising Fashion Show

by Prue Hay, Year 12 Hopeman House

Beachwear with a fruity theme    Mr Fair models the latest in junk fashion    Crushed drinks cans make a symmetrical pattern on this creation

On a particularly dark and dreary February evening Fashion Junkie was held in the Ogstoun Theatre in aid of the Thailand Water Project 2007. Fashion Junkie was a fashion show with a difference as every garment was made by students out of various types of junk!

An elegant black bin bag creation    Alvaro`s innovative idea for re-cycling supermarket plastic bags    A colourful skirt and accessories made from paper cups

Around 25 stunning re-cycled outfits and accessories were created and modelled by students from all year groups to a packed audience. The event brought together some ingenious design work and cunning use of materials and it was amazing to see what people had created with such limited resources in such a short period of time. Prizes, kindly donated by Boden, Brora, Crew, Jack Wills, Osprey, Pinks, Quba Sails and White Stuff, were awarded to the top five entries as well as the best male and female model.

Confectionery wrappers make a colourful waistcoat    The judges deliberate    The winners Kiloran and Katie

The overall winning outfit was designed by Katie and Kiloran who were the lucky winners of a £100 voucher for Boden!

A colourful display of creative talent at Fashion Junkie

Fashion Junkie was a great success and proved to be a very fun, different experience for all involved.
