Autumn Term 2017

News from the Junior School - Week One

Welcome to all our new Children

New children welcome

We were delighted to welcome 40 new children to the school at the start of term from near and far. We are especially pleased to have many boarders who are representing some 14 countries and it’s a privilege to have such a spirit of internationalism in the school.

New children welcome

“A spirit of internationalism is found in those who seek to discover and embrace the similarities and differences between cultures and nationalities in ways that promote meaningful and lasting understanding, tolerance and respect. It encompasses an appreciation for the increasing inter-connectedness of the world, our greater dependence on the global economy and interdependence as nations as a result of massively increased commerce and cultural exchange.”    (Round Square IDEALS).

We expect that, amongst all other things, our children will learn about each others’ cultures and form friendships across international borders which will last a lifetime.

Years 2 and 3 Raise the School Flag

Years 2 and 3

This week, Mrs Csenki’s class set us off to a flying start for the new year when they raised the school flag at the end of our Flag Service. It was fantastic to see the youngest children in Aberlour House raising the flag which symbolises everything it means to be a pupil at Gordonstoun Junior School. As we begin this new journey together, we look forward to the exciting opportunities and challenges that the new school year will bring!
