Autumn Term 2017

Year 9 Expedition

The new Year 9s had an action packed start to their Senior School careers. On Thursday of their first week they participated in a number of outdoor and adventurous activities allowing them the opportunity to get to know everyone in their year in a fun and enjoyable environment. Friday morning saw them complete a series of training sessions, covering topics such as appropriate expedition equipment, efficient tent pitching and the safe use of stoves.

Early morning dew at the campsite   Setting off

In the afternoon they all departed into the heart of the Cairngorm National Park. On arrival at our base camp for the weekend the students pitched their tents and busied themselves preparing their evening meals. After everyone was well fed, they all the participated in a series of fun and active games and challenges.

Taking a well-deserved break   At the top

Saturday dawned bright and sunny, fantastic conditions for the students to further challenge themselves on mountain routes in the high Cairngorms. All the groups spent the day enjoying the glorious weather and scaling some of Britain’s highest peaks.  All students performed exceptionally well throughout the whole weekend. They all successfully and safely returned back to school on Sunday for a well-deserved Sunday Roast!

Stunning views make the effort worthwhile
