Autumn Term 2017

Highland Military Tattoo

The Gordonstoun Pipe Band recently participated in the 2017 Highland Military Tattoo, held in historic Fort George near Inverness. The band performed as part of the Massed Pipes & Drums along with six other bands, including the Army, RAF, civilian and school bands, opening and closing the event. The band performed in all five shows as well as the full day rehearsal the weekend before the Tattoo.

The main set performed by the Massed Bands this year was arranged by our Pipe Band tutors Mr Oliphant and Mr Niven specifically for the event. The pupils ranged in age from Year 8 to Year 13 and were a credit to themselves and the school, taking the tiring schedule in their stride with a great attitude, and bonding well with the other acts in the Tattoo. It has been widely acclaimed as even better than the Edinburgh Military Tattoo this year!
