The Fire Service in Action
At the start of term some of the Gordonstoun Firefighters washed cars for charity at Keith Community Fire Station. It was a very busy and very successful event, raising over £300, which was generously doubled by Chivas Brothers, the employers of two of the Keith Firefighters. Keith Station Master, Kevin Mitchell, was delighted with the Gordonstoun students' participation and praised their hard work and keenness to do the task.
The following weekend the Fire Service was in recruiting mode for the annual Duffus Gala. Their targets were the young children of the village who delighted in being able to dress in Fire Service uniforms - particularly the helmet - and take control of the fire hose to aim at, and knock over, a traffic cone. As ever, the Fire Service students were a popular attraction and, as you can see from our photos, the village youngsters had a wonderful time.
Three weeks later, on the Saturday of Leave-out weekend, while so many of their fellow students headed away from school for a couple of days, three firefighters were washing cars again, this time at the Lossiemouth Station, where they put in a magnificent six hours for the charity fundraiser.
Well done to all those who gave of their free time for such excellent causes.
