Autumn Term 2017

Staff Sailing Day

An intrepid group of Gordonstoun staff members from both the Teaching and Operations teams recently spent a day on Ocean Spirit of Moray

Despite some rather damp weather the staff members had a chance to learn how to sail the boat which is normally used by Gordonstoun students for one week voyages on the West Coast as part of the unique Sail Training programme at the school. The new recruits worked together to set the sails and navigate around Loch Carron and the Inner Sound for the day. They also had a chance to learn some of the teamwork needed to manoeuvre the large craft under sail and to carry out tacking and gybing drills. A thoroughly enjoyable day was rounded off with a fish and chip supper ashore at Plockton and a scenic drive home.
