News from the Junior School - Week 11
Gordonstoun Fireworks Display
Last Saturday, Gordonstoun held its annual fireworks display on the South Lawn. It was a fantastic evening, enjoyed by many of the staff and students from the Junior School. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make it such an enjoyable evening and a special thanks to all of the staff from the Senior School who helped run the event.
Year 8 Literature Quiz
Last week, a group of Year 8 children travelled to Aberdeen to take part in the Northern Scottish Schools’ Literature Quiz. They were split into two teams and competed superbly, with one team achieving a brilliant second place (missing out on the top spot by one point) and the other a very commendable fifth out of twenty teams, in a very closely-contested competition. Well done!
Year 5 Science
Year 5 have been learning all about our Solar System this term, and how our planet is constantly rotating on its axis. This week, they did a shadow experiment in Science to prove this fact. Throughout the day, the children studied the various different shadows cast by the sun and recorded the direction of the sun and the length of the shadow. They then marked the end of each shadow to show its different positions throughout the day.
