News from the Junior School - Week 13
Rag Bag Collection
This week, we collected in our ‘Rag Bags’ which were sent home with the children over the Leave-Out Weekend. The initiative involves the collection of items such as wearable clothing, paired shoes, handbags and belts. Each bag is then weighed and the school is paid for every kilogram that we recycle. The textiles are then sorted and either recycled or exported to places such as Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe to provide affordable and good quality second-hand clothing. The scheme increases awareness of textile recycling and helps the environment by ensuring less material goes to landfill.
Outdoor Leadership Service
On Wednesday afternoon, a group of Year 8 children was selected to take part in some problem-solving and leadership activities organised by the Outdoor Leadership Service team. They had a great time taking on the challenges laid out for them, using quick thinking and clever analysis to complete the different tasks. Many thanks to the Outdoor Leadership Service for putting the afternoon together.
Word has been circulating that Year 6 loved their latest Science project of making clay hearts! They have been combining Science with Art, allowing them the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the makeup of the heart by creating a replica of one - a task which will certainly be hard to beat!
A Star is Born
Rehearsals for The Sleepy Stargazer, the Junior School’s twist on the Nativity story, are well underway and the children are sure to produce a spectacular show. The children are working really hard, practising their lines and getting into character. We hope you will be able to join us on Friday 8 December at 5pm in St Christopher’s Chapel.
