News from the Junior School Week 3
Year 8 Expedition Training
Throughout this term, the children in Year 8 have been participating in training to help prepare them for their Summer Term expedition in Cape Wrath. As the children move up through the school they go on various expeditions, each presenting different challenges and opportunities to ‘find more in themselves’. This helps to develop their skills for the ultimate adventure, when they go to Cape Wrath for five days wild camping and experiencing all of the glories of Mother Nature first hand. The children are learning how to find their own sources of water, good places to set up camp and use a Trangia to cook their food. It’s a fantastic expedition and is all the more so due to the preparation the children receive from the Outdoor Education Department.
On Monday the U13 girls enjoyed their first netball match of this year. The girls travelled to Inverness to play Millburn Academy and Inverness Royal Academy with the Junior School sending two teams to compete. Both teams played very well with the A-team winning and the B-team being just edged out in some closely contested matches. The girls worked incredibly hard, showcasing some of the skills and movement that Miss Buchan has been teaching them since the start of the term. Well done to everyone who took part and represented the school. We look forward to more fixtures to come!
