Summer Term 2018

Round Square Adventure Race

Six students from Years 9 and 10 recently travelled down to Coniston In the Lake District to compete against six other schools the Round Square Adventure Race. The team of Katie R, Katy M, Daniel C, John P, Callum W and Finlay C worked exceptionally well finishing in 2nd place.

Round Square Adventure Race in the Lake District

In glorious Lake District weather they fought hard in every element of the competition on the first day from climbing, canoeing, night navigation, running and mountain biking to take the lead.

On Sunday’s mountain challenge they put in a strong effort up Wetherlam completing the 10km route with over 700metres of ascent in 2 hours and 7 minutes but were slightly slower than the Abbotsholme School team who won the overall event. There were just minutes separating the two teams on the mountain challenge, a route that would test most adults.

An exceptional effort by the Gordonstoun students, particularly considering they arrived very late on the Friday evening in typical wet Lake District weather!
