Autumn Term 2018

Exam Results 2018

GCSEs

A super set of examination results for Gordonstoun GCSE students with 20% of entries achieving the top grades of 8 or 9 and well over one third grades 7-9.  In the much sought after top Grade 9 we were awarded more than double the national average.  Our examination results were particularly strong in the STEM subjects (science, mathematics and computing).

Importantly, the overwhelming majority of students met or exceeded their baseline predictions.

We are looking forward to welcoming these students back to Gordonstoun to start their A Level courses next week.

Excellent GCSE and A-Level results

A Levels

We are proud to see the hard work of our A Level students reflected in this year’s examination results. 28% of grades were at A* or A, with nine students achieving a clean sweep.  We did particularly well in STEM subjects (mathematics, science, computing) with over 60% A* to B.  95% of Mathematics, 100% of Further Mathematics and 100% of French candidates obtaining grades A* to C.

Notably, 84% of those who studied with us at GCSE (for whom we have more reliable baseline data) met or exceeded their baseline predictions.

Not surprisingly these results have converted into a strong year for university admissions with an overwhelming majority of applicants gaining a place at the university of their choice. Gordonstoun students are joining a range of universities this autumn including St Andrews, University College London, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Warwick and Exeter. Some students have chosen to continue their studies overseas including Georgetown (USA) and universities in Germany and Holland.

The class of 2018 will be leaving to study the usual diverse range of subjects. From astrophysics to zoology  and mechanical engineering to music. Three students are leaving us to study medicine.

We wish them every success and look forward to hearing about their next adventures
