News from Penelope Turnbull (nee Fisher) - Windmill 2000

Penelope Turnbull (née Fisher) (Windmill 2000) has made a documentary with her friend Gemma Caldwell, it’s called 'ARCH TO ARC: An Epic Tribute' which has been selected for the Adventure Film Festival to be screened in 35 cinemas nationwide.

'ARCH TO ARC: AN EPIC TRIBUTE'... is a moving, real-life story of personal endeavour and extreme endurance. In September 2008, a 27 year old steel-worker from Shropshire, Tom Beaver (Gordonstoun Duffus House 1994-1999), set out to fulfil his ambition of becoming the youngest and fastest person to complete the unimaginably gruelling ‘Arch to Arc’ endurance triathlon; by far the toughest test of physical and mental stamina known to man. Join Tom as he runs the 87 miles from Marble Arch in London to Dover on the South Coast before doing epic battle against the English Channel and cycling 180 miles, to reach his goal, the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Tom battles solo against the clock, against the elements and against the utter enormity of the challenge he has set himself. At the heart of this astonishing challenge lies a tribute to Tom’s late cousin, Blake, who went missing in 2005 whilst on a Sandhurst expedition in Chamonix. The pain that Tom pushes himself through echoes the anguish of this loss and the event transforms into something bigger and proves to be a cathartic process for Tom and his family who encourage him onwards.' Penelope was a Windmill girl from 1996-2000 before attending the London Film Academy. She has been involved in all aspects of film and has been lucky enough to work on films like 'Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy', 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix', 'Apocalypto', 'Babylon AD', 'La Vie en Rose', and 'NINE'. In 2007 she married Stuart Turnbull (Bruce House 1997-1999). She then set up her own production company, Caldwell Fisher Productions, with a friend in London. They made a charity documentary for the Mine Awareness Trust 'One Step Closer', which won the newcomers award at the Guernsey Lily film Festival and then the opportunity came up to follow Tom Beaver through his adventure, producing and directing 'Arch to Arc: An Epic Tribute'. Outside the film world she has supported Stuart through his Atlantic row and has been lucky enough to do a lot of travelling and adventures of her own, the most recent being a 5,000 mile motorbike trip around South America last summer with fellow OGs Stuart Turnbull, Simon Limpus (Altyre 1997-1999) and David Murray (Altyre 1997-1999).
