Sail the Spanish Coast with Ocean Spirit of Moray

Ocean Spirit of MorayThis summer we are offering 12 members of the GA the chance to join us on board Ocean Spirit for a short cruise on the north coast of Spain. The dates of the voyage are the 20th – 25th July 2010

The voyage will start and finish from Santander and will allow us to visit ports on the dramatic Biscay coast of Spain. The itinerary will of course be subject to the weather and sea conditions at the time, but there are a large selection of bays, ports and harbours for us to explore with the possibility to make some overnight passages too. It is hoped that there will be time for a little exploring ashore and certainly the chance to sample the local specialities in the cafes and restaurants in the evenings.

For those who have not seen her, Ocean Spirit is an 80 foot sail training ketch set up for full participation, so applicants should be physically fit, have some previous sailing experience and be prepared to turn their hand to anything. Accommodation is open plan and facilities on board are comfortable but basic. The vessel carries all the latest navigation and safety equipment and is inspected and certificated by the MCA for Ocean Voyages. There will be a qualified Skipper and staff on board who will help you sail the boat.

The cost of the voyage, which includes meals on board, will be £500.00 per person. Travel is not included but Santander is served by regular ferry services from the UK and a number of cut-price airlines operate to nearby Bilbao.

If you are interested in joining us on board Ocean Spirit of Moray for this trip, please contact Lucy Wickens, GA Office Secretary at ga@gordonstoun.org.uk or telephone +44 (0) 1343 837922
