Preston Mommsen - Duffus 2007: Set for Scotland Debut

By Steve Brown

Preston Mommsen (Duffus 2006)Preston Mommsen (Duffus 2007), who has completed his four-year residency after moving to Scotland from South Africa, has been named in the senior Scotland cricket squad for the ICC Intercontinental Cup in Holland.

Preston joined Gordonstoun in 2006 as the school’s first Lilton sports scholar. He played in a very successful rugby 1st XV but he really excelled at cricket. In 2007 he topped the batting averages at Gordonstoun scoring over 1000 runs at an average of over 151!

After school Preston, an opening batsman and useful off-spinner, moved to Edinburgh and now plays for Carlton CC. He has been having a very good season for his club and he also hit an undefeated hundred in the Scotland Lions' recent victory over Leicestershire 2nd XI. We wish him well!
