The Under 15 girls race starts

North of Scotland Schools' Cross-Country Championships

Letty comes in to complete the U15 girls` race   Runners stream around the lake

Around 400 runners from schools all over the North of Scotland, including the Western Isles, recently converged on Gordonstoun for the annual North Scotland Schools' Cross-Country Championships. The event had been due to take place earlier in the term but had been postponed due to the school being deep in snow.

Douglas J competed in the Over 15 boys` race   Phoebe and Francesca find the going easier with a musical accompaniment

The weather was much kinder on this occasion and despite a biting wind the courses were dry and in good condition for running.  Gordonstoun entered boys and girls teams in the Under 15 and Over 15 categories. Aberlour House usually enter teams in the U14 category but, with most pupils and staff involved in their school production of Bugsy Malone, they were unable to enter on this occasion.

The Ski Patrol provided First Aid and marshalling around the course   Mr Pyper distributed medals and trophies to all of the winners

There were some fine individual performances from Gordonstoun students including Letty H in the girls U15 race, Fergus R in the boys U15 race and Douglas J in the O15 boys race but unfortunately both they and our teams didn’t quite make it into the medals.

The course was marshalled by members of the Ski Patrol Service and the refreshments stall was run in aid of the Thailand Water Project.
