Year 9 Concert

In a fitting finale to a year's hard work, Year 9 enjoyed the late June sunshine performing their compositions in an outdoor concert on a stage set up outside the Music School. The concert was the end-result of a cross-curricular project between the English and Music departments that challenged all Year 9 students to write and compose their own pop songs on the theme of 'Heroes'.

Judged by a panel, including the Simon Cowell-like Mr Cox and Gordonstoun's own version of Danni Minogue, Mrs Henderson, there were prizes for 'best rockstar attitude' and 'most passionate playing of a glockenspiel' as well as for 'best lyrics' and 'best song'. The arrangements of the songs was truly impressive with a range of instruments in the several bands that played.

The afternoon was rounded off with an 'open mike session' where even more talent found its expression. There was some tremendous creative talent displayed from both the writing and the performing sides.
