CAREERS
Colonel Stewart Douglas OBE MBE, the Army Careers officer, visited the school last week to speak to a large number of students who were interested in joining the Armed Forces. The Colonel was able to give useful information to those students who were about to attend their first RCB briefing board and gave helpful advice to one student who was about to attend her Insight course at Gairloch. The Colonel also spoke to a large number of Year 12 students who were interested in joining the Army to serve in the Medical Corps, Logistics and Signals at officer level. A number of students also received information on sponsorship from the army during their university courses.
DANCE SHOW
Gordonstoun’s Annual Dance Show, took place in Ogstoun Theatre last week. Seventy five students presented a varied programme of works in contrasting dance styles. The Year 13 members of GY Dance Company performed a poignant contemporary piece that explored age and beauty while GCSE and AS Dance students presented their exam work. The first XV surprised and amused the audience with their performance to Michael Bublé’s The Best Is Yet To Come, Year 9 glowed in ultra violet light and Year 12 GY Dancers performed a tribute to Michael Jackson. Stef Nichol and friends impressed with their Hip Hop number and The Salsa Club made their debut. All in all it was a very entertaining evening.

As well as parent-teacher consultations the programme included the annual Dance Show, a musical medley and a Gala performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which will be touring California during the Easter holidays. The evening before eight students from the Church of Scotland, the Episcopal Church and the Roman Catholic Church affirmed their faith together through baptism, confirmation and blessing in an ecumenical service led by Reverend Bruce Lawrie, Minister of Duffus Kirk, and the Right Reverend Mark Strange, Bishop of Moray, Ross and Caithness.
