Education should develop the mind and advance understanding. By acquiring knowledge and skills, girls and boys should come to appreciate the joy of learning and thrill of success.
At Gordonstoun we aim to produce young men and women of independent judgement who can express themselves articulately in speech and clearly on paper.
The Gordonstoun curriculum extends far beyond the classroom to provide opportunities for all students to be challenged and stretched. From A-Levels to Sail Training, from Drama to Cricket, from Choir to Cookery, our integrated curriculum expands the horizons of how our students learn.
Students use Information Technology facilities at all levels and in all parts of the curriculum to enhance and enrich the learning process.
Gradings and reports
We operate comprehensive systems of gradings and reports, which are shared with parents.
These ensure that students are carefully monitored and have all the advice and guidance they need throughout their studies.

Student Development Scheme
This is a framework that guides each student through their education and activities at Gordonstoun. The scheme ensures that all our students:
-
receive a well-rounded education;
-
know what is expected of them, and why; and
-
have clear goals to aim for during their time with us.
Although final reports and certificates are presented at the end of the scheme, these are much less important than the process itself.
All students receive a final report, the Record of Development and Citizenship.
Those who complete all parts of the scheme successfully also receive a certificate, the Founders Award.

Founder's Award
This is the Gordonstoun Leaving Certificate. Launched in 2002, it recognises the completion of Gordonstoun's unique brand of education.
The certificate is awarded at two levels – at the end of Year 11 and at the end of Sixth Year.
