Spring Term 2006 Dance Update

Dance Company Visit to Durham Gala Theatre

Gordonstoun's Youth Dance Company was invited to perform in Dame Allans School's annual Dance Showcase at Durham Gala Theatre. The company comprises of eight dancers who have a growing repertoire of work. We took three pieces down to Durham - Fin, Flight and The War is Over. All three pieces were extremely well received by the 500 strong audience.

Motionhouse Performance and workshops

Students had the opportunity to see Motionhouse Dance Theatre perform Chaser in Ogstoun Studio Theatre. A highly inventive piece, it was very well received and afterwards, a number of students worked with the dancers from Motionhouse, learning repertoire from Chaser.

GCSE and A Level Dance Presentation

The end of term saw most of the AS and A level Dance Students alongside all of the GCSE students perform in an exam presentation. The students were all performing their own compositions. At GCSE Level there were a variety of different themes, including The Mad Hatter's Tea Party from Alice in Wonderland, Land Girls from The Second World War, Spanish Traditions and Customs and Plastic Surgery to name a few. At AS and A2 Level students choreographed dances based on one of four questions. The standard of work was very good and the whole evening went extremely well.
