Cabaret

Members of the Senior School gave five performances of the hit musical Cabaret set in Twenties Berlin, based on a play by John van Druten and the stories of Christopher Isherwood, set to the unforgettable music and lyrics of John Kander and Fred Ebb.

-    -

This was a very ambitious project and the cast, musicians and everyone who assisted in any way with the production rose admirably to the challenge.

-    -

The imaginative nightclub setting involved the audience in the action from the very start and the young actors and actresses pulled them in even further with their polished and confident performances.

-    -

Such unforgettable songs as Cabaret, Mein Herr and Maybe This Time were performed with commendable power and passion, the dance numbers were beautifully choreographed and the acting ably portrayed the ambiguous attitudes of the time and the underlying dark and sinister rise of the Nazi party.

-    -

It was an exuberant and colourful production which received well-deserved acclaim from extremely appreciative audiences.
