HMIe & CC Report
The HM Inspectorate of Education in Scotland is an Executive Agency of the Scottish Parliament which is committed to raising standards in, and improving the quality of, education provision across Scotland. As part of this process the HMIe inspect, review and report on the standard of education and care in every educational establishment.
Inspections on Standards of Education
HMIe visit a sample of primary and secondary schools every year to find out how well they are performing. They report on the evaluations of pupils' achievements, the effectiveness of the school and the environment for learning. It also includes evaluations of how well pupils are supported and the learning and teaching methods used.
Inspections on the Care and Welfare of Students
Care and Welfare inspections provide an independent evaluation of the quality of provision for the care and welfare of pupils in the school. Each inspection is designed to answer key questions about:
- the school's ethos and its links with the community
- accommodation, staffing and resources in relation to the care and welfare of pupils
- aspects of support for pupils
- the management of the care and welfare of pupils
