Hopeman House
Hopeman House, on the western edge of the estate, was named in honour of the delightful Hopeman fishing village that lies close by. Designed as a mixed house in the 1970s, it now functions as one of the three girl's boarding houses here at Gordonstoun.

Hopeman girls are from a variety of backgrounds and cultures; at any one time we have close to 20 different nationalities living together. This diversity is a very positive aspect of the House and allows us to understand and appreciate cultures, beliefs and attitudes of others.
Laura Stockley is the Assistant House Mistress and is also a member of the Dance department. She lives in a self contained flat within the House. During the day the House is staffed by Matron who is available to offer advice and assistance on domestic issues and is renowned for her hot chocolate. Our excellent team of tutors provide academic and pastoral/personal support on an individual basis and have one duty evening per week between 18.45 and 22.00.
Every girl has her own bedroom/study and they are encouraged to personalise this with their own posters, photos and cuddly toys! The House has a large common room where the girls can relax, watch television in the evenings, or simply spend time with their friends. This is often the venue for pyjama parties on non-school nights.
It is vital that the girls are comfortable and happy and all House staff are committed to ensuring that Hopeman is a real home-away-from-home.
