I oversee the Lower School students from Year 9 to 11.
When students arrive at the School I ensure they settle in as quickly as possible to enable them to gain maximum benefit from our induction programmes.
I'm responsible for arranging social events and activities and for ensuring that students have access to a complete social service in the form of guidance and advice.
My role affords me a clear overview of students' lives. I strive to ensure they have an enjoyable but challenging time both in and outside lessons.
My office door is always open because it's important that I spend a great deal of time chatting with students.
I'm keen to encourage active discourse into how we do, what we do and why! With this in mind I chair regular meetings of the Lower School Committees and Year Councils. These are excellent forums for students to raise issues regarding any aspect of student life with members of the academic and pastoral staff.

Guidance and advice
All students have different needs. Studying for GCSEs while undertaking a varied programme of activities and service can be pretty tough.
As Lower School Co-ordinator I regularly meet individual students and their Housemaster or Housemistress to discuss progress in all areas.
Together we come up with strategies that motivate and support students through difficult times and direct them towards becoming good citizens and achieving goals of academic and personal success.
Students also have access to School mentors. Senior students both provide advice and encourage Lower School students to speak up and air their views.
They also take part in a thorough programme of lectures and talks.
Students have access to medical specialists at our medical centre and to other professionals.
