10 December 2009
On a cold crisp afternoon the annual inter-House cross-country relay event took place. Each House enters a minimum of one senior and one junior team, each consisting of four runners. The first runners from all the teams set off together from the South Lawn, though complete different length loops depending on their category. They then pass on to the next runner and so on until all four have completed the course. The fastest total time wins.
The runners participated with determination and commitment and they were supported by a large and enthusiastic crowd of fellow students. The final results were:
Junior Girls: 1st Plewlands A, 2nd Hopeman, 3rd Plewlands B, 4th Windmill
Senior Girls: 1st Hopeman B, 2nd Windmill A, 3rd Plewlands A, 4th Altyre
Junior Boys: 1st Round Square, 2nd Duffus, 3rd Cumming A, 4th Bruce B
Senior Boys: 1st Cumming A, 2nd Duffus A, 3rd Round Square A, 4th Bruce A
Thanks go to the members of the Ski Patrol who marshalled the course and to the staff and students who assisted with timekeeping.

North of Scotland Schools Cross-Country Championships
Over 500 pupils from schools as far away as Stornaway converged on Gordonstoun on for the annual North of Scotland Schools Cross-country Championships. The weather was overcast but the rain held off, providing good conditions for cross-country running. There were boys and girls races in three age categories, with the first four runners from each school counting towards the team competition. Gordonstoun fought hard against stiff competition in all of the races, gaining a third place in the Over 15 Girls race. Douglas (Yr 9 Duffus) managed a very respectable second place in the Under 15 Boys race, though the team was just pushed into fourth place.
The trophies and medals were presented by the Headmaster, Mr Mark Pyper.
The race was marshalled by members of the Ski Patrol and the Mountain Rescue Service provided a mobile first aid team to support the cover provided by the Red Cross. A few Windmill girls provided a tuck shop which proved very popular and raised a respectable sum for the Romania Internaltional Service Project.
