Girls
Girls hockey is for all enthusiasts! Training and coaching takes place as part of the School's activity programme occupying two separate sessions each week and open to lower and senior school students.
The coaching programme is committed to providing opportunities for all students to take part and the sessions are designed to improve skills, knowledge and performance to whatever level they desire.
Performance Levels
- U12 XI, U14 XI, 1st XI and 2nd XI teams.
- Mixed boys and girls combined senior XI teams play evening matches after prep under floodlights.
- Regular home and away fixtures for all teams throughout the season against other schools, eg both independent and local schools.
- Annual participation in the Independent Schools Tournament and Highland School's District Tournament at U18, U16 and U14 level.
- Support and encouragement for talented players to attend District trials at U16 and U18 level. Gordonstoun has provided many players who have gained selection.
- Fun and friendly competition in Inter-house tournaments.

Boys
At Gordonstoun boys hockey has a tradition of success. This is facilitated by a first class artificial playing surface, a challenging fixture list and talented coaches. The large pool of accomplished players are therefore developed and fully stretched.
Boys play hockey as their main sport in the Spring term. Practice sessions and warm up matches do, however, take place in the autumn term. Each group train twice a week in the spring term with extra sessions when needed. Although we have fielded up to six teams only four have regular Saturday fixtures. All senior and most junior fixtures are played on astro turf pitches.
The fixture list includes all the major Scottish independent schools. We also play local club and adult teams. The success of teams, particularly at senior level, are a credit to both players and staff. A major feature of the season is the Scottish Schools Cup, a competition we have excelled in, reaching the final in 2005. There is also the Chameleon Six-a-side tournament where we have also traditionally done well.
Boys are therefore fully prepared for hockey outside Gordonstoun. Many continue to play after leaving school with a number gaining representative honours for county and country at all levels. Most notably in recent years Justus Scharovsky who represented Germany in the 2004 Olympic Games.
