Boarding

Sixth Form boarding opportunities at Gordonstoun go well beyond those provided in other schools.

  • All Sixth Formers belong to a Gordonstoun Service: an opportunity to give something back to the wider community.
  • All Sixth Formers take part in at least one expedition in one of the wild and remote areas of Scotland – many opt for more than one.
  • All Sixth Formers spend a week sail training on the ocean-going yacht, Ocean Spirit on the West Coast of Scotland, or sometimes travelling further afield.
  • Many Sixth Formers choose to take their Silver and/or Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
  • Many take part in international projects. These are service and adventure trips – often, but not always, run in conjunction with Round Square – to such places such as Thailand, Tanzania, Eastern Europe and Sinai.
  • Every Saturday during autumn and spring terms a rich and varied lecture programme aims to broaden, extend and challenge Sixth Form students' minds.

One of the most important aspects of Sixth Form life centres on responsibility . Most students will, during their time at Gordonstoun, be assigned to a position of responsibility, such as a Colour Bearer (prefect) House Captain, or one of many school or house-based positions.

Like their younger colleagues in the Lower School, Sixth Formers take part in drama, dance and music productions and have access to a wealth of sports.
