Social Events

Year 13 student, Katie during a Dance Show rehearsal
Katie, Year 13

"Wednesdays and Saturdays are social nights, and all the girls are getting all dressed up with their best clothes to impress the male species within the School.

The Lower and Upper Sixth in Houses are all integrated and we have music prepared by one of the students. Not everyone is dressing to kill tonight though; some of the girls are going on a cinema trip to Inverness to see the latest release. This is a good option for those who want a chilled night out with no loud music banging in their ears!

The opportunity to have this event is amazing. Not only do we get to dance and generally have a good time, but it is one of the times when we get to socialise with our peers and meet new people. As Sixth Formers we can also go out into Elgin for meals and, of course, there's always free time to spend with friends, either in the Common Room or in the Houses.

Once every term we have a Scottish Reels night. The foreign students are given the chance to learn new skills and the locals are given a chance to show off their dancing, much to the amusement of those who have never seen Scottish dancing before!

As well as these, we have an annual Valentine's Ball, which includes Year 11 students as well. This evening raises a lot of money for charity as well as giving Cupid the opportunity to work his magic!"
