Special Boat Service
The Service operates from Findhorn Bay and Hopeman Harbour and possesses two dorys, powered by 35hp Mercury outboard engines, six lasers, two 420 dinghies and five Devon yawls.
The Service provides:
- Training in boat handling and maintenance (RYA level II powerboat and RYS level III dinghy).
- Safety cover and instructors for the School sailing during the week and at weekends.
- Safety cover, instructors and other asistance as required at School events and for local Schools.
Members can expect to gain practical experience of boat handling under sail and power, sometimes in testing conditions when safety patrols are provided. In the past we have also been involved with searches on the water and have also rescued local sailors when they have been in difficulty. We have also been involved in sailing with the disabled.
