Expeditions

Expeditions

Our fantastic location means that Gordonstoun can provide students with a structured and inspiring programme of mountain, river and sea based wilderness expeditions. Gordonstoun uses a variety of beautiful and remote settings for our expeditions which allow students to experience and learn more about the natural environment. These experiences encourage students to develop an empathy and respect for the environment.

Expeditions play a key role in the development of the qualities and attributes that students will need to survive and thrive in a changing world. They are therefore an important and standard part of the curriculum for all students throughout their time in the School.

Students receive comprehensive expedition skills training and preparation at whatever stage they enter the School.

Expeditions can involve:

  • Journeying on foot through remote and wilderness areas
  • Canoeing, climbing, sailing and mountain biking
  • Exploration of coastlines, rivers, lochs, forests and mountains
  • Building on an element of the curriculum, such as Physical Education

Students also have the opportunity to take part in:
