ADVENTURE RACE
Last weekend Gordonstoun hosted the 2017 Round Square Adventure Race. Based at Badaguish in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, the event made full use of the surrounding spectacular lochs and mountains. The event consisted of a series of events and adventurous activities which included canoeing, climbing, mountain biking, orienteering in the dark and lots of mountain running. Seven teams from across the UK battled it out over the weekend. Unfortunately Gordonstoun’s  three year winning streak came to an end, but the team performed admirably throughout the weekend finishing a respectable third. The event was a huge success and the students who participated are looking forward to regaining the trophy next year in the Lake District.

DRAMA
Back in February Gordonstoun hosted the North of Scotland auditions for places on the National Youth Theatre summer courses. Over 5000 young people aged 14-25 audition for these coveted places nationwide and Gordonstoun is delighted that three Year 13 students - Flora M, Imogen CG and Zoe K - will be spending almost a month of the summer working with industry professionals down in London. Upon completing the course they will become members of the National Youth Theatre.

SPORT
Cricket: Last Thursday the Gordonstoun U14 XI travelled to Huntly Cricket Club for their first game in the Gordon Baxter U14 League. Huntly won the toss and elected to bat first, this decision was backed up by fantastic batting from a young Huntly team who scored an impressive 102-1 at the end of their 16 overs.  In reply Gordonstoun set about the total with confidence but struggled to generate runs and, despite some tail end excitement, finished eight runs short on 94-4.

Tennis: Gordonstoun Senior Ladies moved top of League Division 4 with a fine win away at Nairn on Thursday evening, where strong performances ensured a solid victory. Not to be outdone the Men’s team beat Forres in Division 1 of their league to take the team to 4th spot in the league. The Gordonstoun mixed team lie in third place in their league despite a shock defeat away at Findhorn on Monday. The U 14A team are currently fourth in their Division following a heavy defeat away to the improving Rothes team on Monday while the U14B team is fourth in Division 2 of the U14 league.
